You can file a case at the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) for service-related issues such as promotions, transfers, pay, pensions, disciplinary actions, discharge or appeals against court-martial decisions. The AFT has jurisdiction over disputes involving armed forces personnel, whether serving or retired. Cases must typically be filed within six months of the contested order, but delays may be allowed if justified.

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) handles service matters for civilian government employees, including postings, promotions, transfers and disciplinary actions. It is not empowered to hear court-martial appeals, which fall exclusively under the AFT.

Thus, armed forces personnel approach AFT for military service grievances and court-martial appeals, while civilian government employees may approach CAT for their service disputes.

This division ensures specialized and appropriate handling of service matters depending on the nature of the employee and issue.
